Pacific Energy is delivering a 16MW high-efficiency, low-emissions gas power station for Kimberley Mineral Sand’s Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project, 70 km west of Derby.
Delivered under a 15-year power purchase agreement, the system incorporates an on-site LNG storage and re-vaporisation facility and 2MW of battery storage, which will provide spinning reserve, emergency back up and system stability.
The agreement accommodates the future addition of solar energy to increase capacity as mining operations and demand grow.
