Australia's first PDC-IVYS SimpleFuel Fast hydrogen refuelling stations
In 2023, Pacific Energy’s division of hydrogen and renewable gas experts delivered one of Australia’s first PDC-IVYS SimpleFuel Fast hydrogen refuelling stations at CSIRO’s Clayton Campus in Melbourne.
Designed, supplied, installed and commissioned by Pacific Energy, the station provides hydrogen refuelling for CSIRO and partner fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). While not open to the public, it plays a vital role in research and training, supporting the broader development of Australia’s hydrogen industry.
The project is a cornerstone of CSIRO’s Hydrogen Industry Mission and was delivered in partnership with Swinburne University of Technology through the Victorian Hydrogen Hub (VH2), with over $1 million in funding from the Victorian Government and Swinburne.
In recognition of its innovative, compact and scalable design, the project was awarded the 2024 Project of the Year at the Engineers Australia Excellence Awards in Melbourne. This accolade highlights Pacific Energy’s continued leadership in hydrogen infrastructure projects and the ability of our Future Fuels team, headquartered in Melbourne, to deliver cutting-edge renewable energy solutions across Australia’s energy market.
