In 2021, Pacific Energy’s renewables division integrated a 576kw BESS and control system into Synergy’s existing Coral Bay diesel and wind generation facilities, equipping the system with ‘hydrocarbons off’ capabilities.

The sophisticated control system is capable of switching off all diesel generation when renewable energy and BESS back-up is sufficient, and then seamlessly re-engaging it when required. As a result, the entire town can be powered emissions-free when conditions are favourable to wind generation.
