Supporting Brisbane Airport’s clean energy transition
Pacific Energy is delivering its first east coast battery energy storage system (BESS) under a design, supply and install agreement with Brisbane Airport Corporation.
The 336kWh customised BESS will form part of the airport’s sustainability-focused pilot program, which is designed to explore the role of consumer energy resources (CER) in building a more flexible, reliable and low-emissions power system.
Once commissioned, the system will trial a range of benefits within Brisbane Airport’s electrical network, including maximum demand reduction, storage of excess solar generation, and improved power quality. By testing how BESS technology can integrate into large-scale facilities, the project will generate valuable insights into future opportunities for CER adoption across Australia’s energy transition.
