Pacific Energy is home to six specialist Australian energy businesses with over 639MW of contracted generation capacity

Operating for over 40 years, and with owned assets at more than 47 national sites, Pacific Energy currently has over 639MW under contract, making us a market leader by scale in the provision of remote, off-grid energy in Australia. Over time, we have built over 93 power stations, totalling over 1.1GW in delivered energy infrastructure.

We specialise in designing, building, owning and operating power generating assets for mining companies, businesses, townships and State-owned utilities across Australia, as a trusted partner from concept right through project life.

Our growth has been bolstered by the acquisitions of KPS (2009), Nova Power (2017), Contract Power (2018), Hybrid Systems (2020), CPE Switchboards (2021) and MVLV Power Solutions (2021).

In 2019, Pacific Energy was 100% acquired by QIC – a global investment entity owned by The Queensland Government.

  • Jamie Cullen

    Chief Executive Officer

    Jamie has served as Chief Executive Officer since June 2015. Prior to joining Pacific Energy, he was Chief Executive of Resource Equipment Ltd (2008 – 2014) and PCH Group Ltd (1995 – 2007), both of which were ASX listed resource sector service companies with national and international operations until being acquired under takeover transactions.

    He has extensive commercial and practical experience in growing businesses domestically and internationally, both organically and through acquisitions.

    Jamie has considerable financial, management and corporate governance experience and has served as a Director of several listed companies. He is also a Board member of Guide Dogs WA and Ear Science Institute Australia.

    He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and prior to his CEO roles was a finance executive in the motion picture industry in Los Angeles and before that was with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Australia and the USA.

  • John Stamopoulos

    Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary

    John was appointed Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary of Pacific Energy in September 2020.

    John is an experienced finance executive, with more than 20 years’ corporate and on-site experience within both Australian and International resource operations and jurisdictions.

    Prior to joining Pacific Energy, he held senior Finance, Commercial and Investor Relations roles within both large private and ASX-listed companies including Quadrant Energy (one of Australia’s largest oil & gas producers), Norilsk Nickel (world’s leading producer of nickel and palladium) and Mirabela Nickel (commissioning through to full production).

    John’s expertise includes successfully leading and delivering business development & strategy, corporate finance & treasury, statutory compliance & governance, investor relations, M&A and shareholder value optimisation.

    He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia and is a qualified Chartered Accountant commencing his career with Deloitte.

  • Michael Hall

    Chief Operating & Technology Officer

    With a background as a qualified Electrician, Mike has over 21 years’ experience in the electrical and power generation industry. Mike started his career as an Electrical Apprentice in 2001 at Electrical Group Training (EGT) and in 2004 joined Contract Power. During his tenure with Contract Power, Mike was an integral part of the development and growth of the company. Mike has extensive and practical knowledge in the design, construction, commissioning and operations of numerous power stations in both Australia and Africa.

    As a result of progressive foresight, identifying renewable technology developments and an increased requirement in the market for renewable energy solutions, in 2015 Mike co-founded Hybrid Systems with Aaron Hodges. As a Director, Mike was instrumental in the establishment and start-up of the business and continues to guide the strategic direction of the company in an Executive Director role.

    In his current role as Group Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer for Pacific Energy, Mike is responsible for providing leadership and optimising operational performance across the group. He also oversees the group’s strategic focus on emerging technology solutions.

  • Kaye Butler

    Chief People, Culture & Sustainability Officer

    Kaye Butler was appointed to Chief People, Culture & Sustainability Officer for Pacific Energy in April 2022. Kaye is an Executive Manager with experience in Australia and international locations.

    Her recent positions include General Manager Human Resources for Chevron – Global Deployment and Change Management in Singapore and Houston Texas.

    Prior to this, Kaye was the General Manager Human Resource for Chevron Australia and has also held senior roles with global alumina producer, Alcoa.

    In her current role with Pacific Energy Group, Kaye is responsible for the human resources functions, organisational culture, capability alignment and talent acquisition across the entire Pacific Energy Group. She is also responsible for the Environmental, Social & Governance functions for the group.

    Kaye has a Bachelor of Applied Science (psychology) and Post Graduate Diploma in organisational psychology.

  • Jon Lloyd

    Group Manager, HSEQ & Risk

    Commencing his career as a certified electrical and mechanical tradesman, Jon has over 30 years’ experience in the development and management of safety systems.

    Jon has held senior roles in the manufacturing, construction and mining resources sectors including with BHP, Fortescue Metals Group and Rio Tinto.

    Jon’s extensive experience includes incident investigation, training, risk management, behaviour-based safety programs, workers compensation and injury management, major hazard and critical control development and leading safety teams on both the frontline and at corporate level.

    In his current role with Pacific Energy, Jon’s focus is on the management of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) across the group and in the development of health and safety systems, management of risk and embedding a behavioural based safety culture within the group.

  • Nathalie Gerault

    Group Legal & Contracts Manager

    Nathalie has been in charge of legal and contract management for Pacific Energy since April 2021. Prior to that, Nathalie worked in Australia in the oil and gas industry for Subsea 7 and Gdf Suez Bonaparte and had a long career in the utilities and power generation industry working for Engie across Europe and Indonesia. Nathalie also worked for Ernst & Young in the African Department with a focus on build own operate (BOO) water and electricity projects and for EGIS internationally for design build finance operate motorways projects.

    Nathalie has extensive experience in the infrastructure and energy sectors to support business development and project management commercially and contractually.

    In addition to a LLM in commercial law from the University of Bristol, Nathalie is a French qualified lawyer with a double degree in law and corporate management and has extensive experience working in English and Australian law environments.

  • Nicole Passarelli

    Group Marketing & Communications Manager

    Nicole joined Pacific Energy in July 2021. A senior marketing leader, Nicole has held various sales and marketing positions within the tourism and transport industry spanning the accommodation, airline, and touring sectors.
     
    With over 20 years’ experience in consumer and corporate sales, marketing and communications, Nicole has worked on iconic Western Australian brands such as Rottnest Express, Sal Salis and Skywest Airlines.
     
    Nicole’s recent experience includes a National General Manager, Marketing role for Journey Beyond, where she managed multiple marine brands including Cruise Whitsundays and Journey Beyond Cruise Sydney.
     
    In her current role as Group Marketing and Communications Manager, Nicole is responsible for all internal and external marketing, campaign strategy and communications activity for the Pacific Energy Group.

  • Leon Hodges

    Managing Director, Pacific Energy Pty Ltd

    As Managing Director of Pacific Energy Pty Ltd, the group’s remote power subsidiary, Leon oversees the largest portfolio of off-grid reciprocating generator power facilities in Australia. He has over 35 years’ experience and is a stalwart of the Australian off-grid power generation industry.

    A heavy diesel fitter by trade, Leon held numerous roles throughout his career including in the earth moving, automotive and mining sectors. Leon founded Contract Power Australia in 1991, which grew to become one of Australia’s leading independent power providers, responsible for building and delivering over 40 power stations on mines and townships in Australia, Asia and Africa.

    In 2018 Contract Power Australia was acquired by Pacific Energy. In Leon’s current role as Managing Director, he is an integral part of the executive team, providing leadership and direction on the safe and reliable operation of Pacific Energy’s remote power portfolio and in guiding and supporting the continued growth of the business.

  • Roy Pascoe

    General Manager Operations, Pacific Energy Pty Ltd

    Responsible for the operation of 40 remote power stations on mines and townships, Roy is a highly credentialed executive in the electrical industry, with experience spanning the mining, industrial, utilities, energy and infrastructure sectors.

    He started his career in the electrical industry with the Royal Ordnance in the UK, and over the years has developed an in-depth understanding of leadership, project and general management principles and practice.

    Prior to Pacific Energy, Roy held senior positions in the mining and construction sectors including with Downer, Monadelphous and Mineral Resources, before joining KPS Power Generation as General Manager in 2017.

  • Lee Illingworth

    Project Delivery Manager, Pacific Energy Pty Ltd

    Lee joined Pacific Energy in March 2020. He is responsible for overseeing the group’s delivery of its project portfolio while providing leadership, direction, and guidance to the broader project delivery team to facilitate effective project governance. An experienced senior manager for 20 years, Lee has worked in power generation, resource sector construction and manufacturing throughout Australia.

    Before joining, he was General Manager at MRL Energy and was an integral part of the parent company’s (Mineral Resources Ltd) senior management team providing strategic direction, stewardship and day to day management while also developing the businesses energy division. He has gained extensive engineering experience through both practical and further education and, also has a Graduate Diploma of Business.

  • Marc Grosser

    Design & Engineering Manager, Pacific Energy Pty Ltd

    With over 30 years’ extensive experience in operating, designing and constructing power stations, Marc is responsible for the Design and Engineering division at Pacific Energy and in providing leadership and direction across the Electrical and Mechanical design and drafting process of all projects in the group including control systems and in the oversight of commissioning.

    In his prior role as General Manager at Contract Power for over 22 years, Marc was responsible for HSEQ management, and in tendering and project management for the construction and upgrade of Power Stations across Australia and Africa.

  • Matt Duxbury

    General Manager Commercial, Pacific Energy Pty Ltd

    Matt has over 35 years’ experience in senior management roles in the power industry. His extensive leadership career experience includes experience with commissioning of power equipment, running Western Power’s SouthWest Interconnected and the NorthWest Interconnected Systems and renewable energy Manager with Western Power.

    More recently, Matt’s roles have been in Commercial and Business Development with StateWest Power – EnGen and WorleyParsons. Matt joined Contract Power in 2016 and has been responsible for the tendering and securing of new business, contract negotiations, client relationships and in providing bespoke energy solutions for clients. He has extensive knowledge of the economic and technical aspects of conventional power generation and new and emerging technologies such as PV, wind and BESS.

    In Matt’s current role as Commercial Manager for Pacific Energy, he is responsible for management of the Business Development team and in the continued commercial growth of the remote power portfolio.

Hybrid Systems Australia

  • Aaron Hodges

    Managing Director, Hybrid Systems Australia

    Having worked in the power generation industry for over 17 years, Aaron commenced his career with Contract Power in 2005 as an Electrical Apprentice. Aaron progressed to Electrical Supervisor overseeing and managing staff, with direct involvement across many of the Contract Power projects.

    In 2015, Aaron co-founded Hybrid Systems with Michael Hall. As a Director & Company Secretary, Aaron was integral in establishing the foundations and was fundamentally involved in all start up aspects of the business.

    In April 2020, following the acquisition of Hybrid Systems by Pacific Energy, Aaron was appointed to Managing Director. In his current role and following recent significant growth and expansion he is responsible for overseeing the performance, safety, and continued growth of the business on a day-to-day basis.

    Aaron holds the Clean Energy Council Accreditation and is the nominee and management representative of the Electrical Contractor licence for Hybrid Systems Australia Pty Ltd.

  • Daniel Jackson

    General Manager of Operations, Hybrid Systems Australia

    Daniel has over 20 years’ experience in the electrical and electronic manufacturing industry. He joined Hybrid Systems in 2020 and in his current role as General Manager Operations, is responsible for the safe and efficient day to day operations of the business.

    Prior to joining Hybrid Systems, Daniel held numerous leadership roles with the Nilsen Group and was responsible for project management of several key projects totalling over 100MW including a Solar farm in Greenough, Solar farm for Agnew gold mine and Chichester Solar Farm for FMG.

    Daniel is an experienced project management professional with skills in contract management and negotiations, budgeting, customer service and team management.

Pacific Energy Hydro

  • Paul Gardiner

    Victorian Manager

    Paul has over 40 years’ experience in the power industry including some 30 years involvement with Pacific Energy’s hydroelectric facilities (formally owned by Kvaerner Boving).

    In 2012 he was appointed Manager of Pacific Energy Victorian Hydro.

    In 2017 Pacific Energy acquired the 10MW NOVA gas fired power station which fell under Paul’s responsibilities, he was subsequently appointed Manager of Pacific Energy’s Victorian generation facilities.

    Paul sponsors a child through the Smith Family and is involved with Victorian Wildlife Rescue and Release.

    He has tertiary qualifications in Business, IT and Project Management.

MVLV Power Solutions

  • Luke Davies

    Managing Director

    With a background as a qualified Electrician, Luke has over 15 years’ experience in the electrical industry. Luke started his career as an Electrical Apprentice in 2007 at Electrical Group Training (EGT) following his apprenticeship, Luke worked in a number of construction and maintenance electrical roles including with Newmont Boddington Gold, Downers and SCEE.

    Luke has extensive and practical knowledge in designing, manufacturing and installing switchrooms, LV & HV switch gear and BESS enclosures.

    As a result of identifying an opportunity and gap in the market, in 2015 Luke established MVLV Power Solutions. As a founding Director, he was instrumental in the establishment and start-up of the business.

    In 2021, MVLV Power Solutions was acquired by Pacific Energy. Luke is actively involved in the day to day running of the business and in guiding the continued growth of the business.

CPE Switchboards

  • Warren Coppard

    General Manager

    As an experienced Manager, Warren has extensive experience in the electrical industry. Appointed to General Manager of CPE Switchboards in 2021, Warren is responsible for the day-to-day operations and overall performance of the business.

    Prior to CPE Swtichboards, Warren held a number of General Management positions including with Sulzer, Advanced Electrical Equipment and NHP Electrical Engineering Products.

    With an MBA, Strategic Management, Warren is a highly credentialed and qualified manager, successfully leading teams and strategically guiding the growth and high performance of businesses.
