Strelley Community School Solar & Battery System

In 2023, Pacific Energy in partnership with Pilbara Minerals and the Strelley Community School delivered a new solar and battery storage system (BESS) that is helping the small Pilbara community transition to a clean energy future.

This renewable power system is reducing the Strelley Community’s reliance on diesel generators, allowing it to run ‘diesel off’ during the day using solar energy and during the night using battery energy.

The system will provide the Strelley Community with significant cost savings by decreasing diesel usage and reducing maintenance costs for the ageing diesel generators.

It is estimated that the savings will equate to more than 170 litres of diesel per day, this saving will be redirected and invested by the Strelley Community into its Two-way Science and On-Country Learning curriculum programs.

Pacific Energy worked closely with the principal from Strelley, and the gorgeous students contributed their beautiful artworks for the battery’s enclosure – it’s our best-looking BESS yet!
Gumala Aboriginal Corporation Partnership

Pacific Energy, together with its integrated renewable subsidiary, Hybrid Systems Australia (HSA), has a joint three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (GAC).

GAC is one of the largest Aboriginal corporations, serving Banjima, Yinhawangka and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara region in Western Australia.

Under the MOU, GAC will identify remote communities in the Pilbara for the introduction of sustainable, renewable energy, reducing reliance of fossil fuel generators. Hybrid Systems is converting those remote communities to hybrid power by incorporating solar and battery storage with existing generators through the installation of Hybrid Systems’ industry leading Standalone Power Systems (SPS).

SPS consist of reliable renewable energy supplied from solar panels, battery storage and a backup generator. The Hybrid Systems SPS units utilise world-class componentry, with all design, manufacturing, assembly, installation, commissioning, and operating & maintenance occurring in-house and locally in Perth, Western Australia, with a proven record of quality, reliability, and performance in remote conditions.

The programme will provide remote communities with reliable power supply alongside environmental and cost benefits.

Pacific Energy CEO Jamie Cullen noted the importance of the partnership with GAC:

Capricorn Metals - Karlawinda Recycling Initiative

At Pacific Energy, we’re committed to continuously improving the impact we have on the environment and the communities we serve. That’s why we’ve partnered with Capricorn Metals and Maca to recycle all paper and cardboard waste generated at the Karlawinda Gold Project’s mine site and power station.

The paper and cardboard is separated from general waste, then bailed and sent for recycling. Each bail we recycle raises much needed funds for the Perth Children’s Hospital, which will be used to deliver world-class healthcare to the kids of WA.

So far, we’ve raised more than $11,000 that will help kids get well and stay well!
Pacific Energy Supports Ronald McDonald House Charities

For the first time in 2022, Pacific Energy joined the Up All Night Walk to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House Charity WA (RMHC) is an independent, not for profit organisation that offers safe, comfortable, home away from home accommodation for parents and families with seriously and critically ill children. They provide sick children in their time of need with the best gift of all – their families.

A team of 26 from across the group walked the 42km marathon overnight on 26 November, giving an insight into the sleepless nights spent by the parents who stay at the house. The team has currently raised over $41,000 for the worthy charity.
